New Women’s Health Clinic Opens in Tempe to Serve the Underserved
TEMPE, Ariz. – (Dec. 6, 2011) – The Women’s Care Center Clinic opened a second location on the Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital campus on Tuesday, Dec. 6. The new clinic, located at 1492 S. Mill Avenue, Suite 314, in Tempe, provides obstetrical and gynecological care at a low cost for every stage of a woman's life.
“The original Women’s Care Center Clinic in Mesa opened in 1993 to care for the underserved in the area. The new location enables us to serve even more Arizona women living in the Tempe area, down the South Mountain corridor, and in the vicinity of Arizona State University,” said Jill Bish, RNC, director of Women’s Services at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital.
The Women’s Care Center Clinics are strictly for women and offer obstetrics and gynecology services, from preconception and prenatal care, to annual well-woman exams and sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing, treatment and education. The clinics also provide pregnancy testing.
“The environment at the Women’s Care Center Clinics is warm, caring and welcoming. Our staff is bilingual and our programs are designed for women without health insurance, underinsured or for women on AHCCCS,” said Bish.
The center also provides information about community resources, including physician referrals, AHCCCS and financial assistance. Caseworkers are available to assist with financial arrangements and AHCCCS qualification.
Women receiving prenatal care at the Tempe and Mesa clinics deliver at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital, conveniently located next door to the Tempe Women’s Care Center Clinic. Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital offers private labor, delivery and recovery suites, as well as surgical suites for those requiring a caesarean section.
