Volunteering at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital is a rewarding and enriching experience. Our volunteers are committed community members who care about making a difference in the lives of others. They are diverse in their ages, cultures, and life experience and enhance the quality of care that our staff delivers. Come share your skills and talents. We need your ideas and energy.

Benefits of volunteering include:
• A new group of friends
• Personal satisfaction and fulfillment
• New skills and interests
• Community recognition for rewarding contributions
• Satisfaction of helping those in need

In addition to the personal satisfaction you gain from your work, volunteer benefits include:
• Semi-annual recognition and awards events
• One complimentary meal per every 4 hours of volunteer time
• 10% discount in our hospital gift shop
• In-service training in your areas of interest and yearly educational updates
• Free flu shots and a yearly TB test

Our volunteers work in every area of the hospital starting with the Information Desk, Gift Shop, Surgery Waiting Room, Emergency Room and other patient care areas. We have day, afternoon and evening shifts available in all areas.

After the Volunteer Services Coordinator receives your application, you will be contacted to schedule an interview, which helps ensure you are placed in an area where you will gain the most satisfaction. Our community is very important at Tempe St. Luke's Hospital. Our commitment to compassionate care extends beyond the walls of our hospital. We partner with many area agencies to bring healthcare to those who do not have access to services. We’re a partner in the Escalante Health Clinic along with the Tempe Community Action Agency and the Arizona State University College of Nursing. The clinic serves Tempe children and their families who are uninsured or underinsured providing well child exams, illness care, immunizations, physical exams, sports physicals, prescriptions, referrals, education and preventative care. The Escalante Health Clinic is located in the Escalante Community Center, 2150 E. Orange.

The hospital Auxiliary provides $15,000 in annual scholarships to students pursuing healthcare related careers, and the Tempe St. Luke's Medical Staff also awards annual scholarships to Tempe High School seniors entering college. In addition to these financial investments, Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital also partners with Tempe High School to give students an opportunity to explore healthcare careers. High school students who volunteer receive a firsthand look at the healthcare careers in a hospital setting available to them.
